Partnership working on Hill helps local resident make his business idea become a reality. Michael Campbell had been out of work due to ill health for a number of years. He had worked as a driver before becoming ill and had always wanted to set up his own business as an executive driver. Michael had the Business idea but didn’t know where to start until he visited the Job Shop at the phoenix way centre where Chris Evans from Want to Work referred him to Business Sense to discuss his idea. Sheran Grey from Business Sense said ‘Michael was like many people who call into our office – they have a good idea for a business and believe they can make a success of it, but they don’t know where to start.’ With support from Angela Davies, Shaw Trust, Michael was able to work with Business Sense to put together his Business Plan, he was put in touch with an excellent bank manager, and supported to design his website and business cards. Want to Work were able to provide the funding for Michael to secure funding to acquire the licenses he needed to operate his business and referred him to Lindsey Davies from Employment Training for clerical support and help to promote the business. With the advice, support, motivation and signposting from Chris Evans from Want to Work and the close working partnerships Michael is now all set to get his Business up and running and is taking bookings for Christmas and weddings next year.
